퍼프먼스 시리즈, 나는 지금 이곳에 있다 5/용산리 과수원에서/2021.04.10
Covid19 팬데믹으로 이동과 만남이 제한되어 갇혀있는 기간이 길어지고 있다. 국내의 증상자들이 늘어나고 나라 밖의 소식도 염려스럽기만 하다. 읍내 대부분 상점들은 문을 닫고 사람들의 움직임도 조심스럽다. 활기차던 시장은 의심과 불안으로 우울하다. 이런 중에 봄이 왔다. 분주하던 세상이 멈춰지니 바람과 공기는 깨끗하고 햇빛도 찬란하다. 욕망으로 내달리던 나는 비로소 나의 마을에 관심 갖고 더 자세히 보게 되었다.
음성읍은 사방이 부드러운 산으로 둘러싸여 있고 시내 복판으로 수정천이 흐르는 그리 크지않은 깨끗한 마을이다. 두텁고 수련한 가섭산이 북쪽에서 오는 찬 바람을 막아 주어 남쪽 산자락, 용산리는 따뜻한 햇살이 가득하다. 과수 농사에 좋은 지형이라 일대는 온통 복숭아밭이다. 일정한 간격으로 심어진 과일나무들이 언덕에 펼쳐지고 물오른 꽃나무는 터질 듯 부풀었다. 봄바람이 꽃나무 가지를 흔들며 날아다니고 새들도 덩달아 시끄럽다. 나는 일대를 수차례 방문해 나무의 모양과 크기를 관찰하거나 개화시기를 측정했다. 나는 봄을 여는 복사꽃과 맞추어 보기로 했다. 얇고 긴 천을 염색하고 동일한 색으로 옷을 만들어 입고 거대한 꽃이 되기로 했다. 복사꽃이 가득한 꽃나무 아래에 앉아 새벽부터 한낮까지 꽃과 함께 천천히 꽃잎을 열었다. 꽃은 한낮이 되어서야 온전히 피었다.
그러나 코로나가 지배하는 현재는 미숙한 장인이 실수로 빚어놓은 작품처럼 불안하다. 이것의 끝이 언제가 될지 알 수 없다. 나는 더 완전한 곳에서 위로받고 힘을 얻고 싶었다. 나는 퍼프먼스, ‘나는 지금이곳에 있다 5, 용산리 과수원에서’를 통해 자연의 순환에 나를 맞추고 봄의 에너지와 일치하고자 했다.

Performance Series, I’m here right now 5th / In Yongsan-ri Orchard
Covid 19 Panther Mick restricted movement and meetings. From dawn to noonthe period of restriction is getting longer. The number of the Covid 19 cases in Korea is increasing not only in Korea but around the world. Most of the shops in town are closed and people are more cautious about their movement. Once lively markets has now become quiet with doubts and anxiety. While we suffer from this situation, spring has come.
It wasn’t until the world, which had only been galloping, slowed down that the wind and air cleared up and the sun shone. From now on leaving my desire behind, I am interested in my village surrounded by mountains ans will start to take a closer look. We live in a village which is clean and average size. It is also surrounded with mountains and has a crystal-like stream flowing through the middle of town. The large and beautiful Mount Gaseop blocks cold winds from the north, so Yongsan-ri, the southern foot of the mountain is full of warm sunlight. Because it has a optimal soil for growing fruits, it is covered with peach trees. Fruits trees planted at regular intervals are spread out on the hill; the flowers about to burst into bloom. The spring breeze blows over the branches of a flower tree and the birds are singing. I have visited the area several times to observe the shape and size of the trees or to measure them when they bloom. I wanted to feel the peach flowers become one with me. I decided to dye the cloth, put on the same color costume, and become a large flower myself. In an orchard full of flowering trees, I sat under the tree from dawn to noon and started to express the flowering process with my own body just like peach flowers. The flowers did not fully open until noon.
This period dominated by Corona is like an unfinished piece of work made by inexperienced craftsman. Nobody knows when this situation will end. I wanted to find comfort and strength in a more complete place. By expressing the performance,’I am here right now 5th, in the Yongsan-ri orchard’. I wanted to be a part of spring by immersing myself in the cycle of nature.
